Before you email Islam For Today dot com...

Thank you for wanting to get in touch with us.  Islam For Today is run by volunteers in their free time.  Unfortunately as we receive thousands of emails every month, we have simply been unable to cope with the volume.  This has meant that it sometimes takes months before we manage to reply (often only managing to make inroads into the backlog during vacation periods).

Moreover, much of the incoming email is pornographic spam.  We delete pages of it at a time.  To make sure your email is not deleted in error, include a subject heading that is recognizably something to do with the web site or Islam.  Also, nearly every email we receive with an attachment contains a virus. Please do not send any attachment if we have not had any contact from you previously as your email is likely to be deleted unread.

Please note that we are unable to answer queries about Islamic law in general or offer advice about how it may apply to your personal situation in particular.  However, you will find below links to websites which do offer this service.

FAQs

Many of the enquiries we receive often deal with a certain range of topics.  Therefore before you email us, please read our "Frequently Asked Questions" section.

I am interested in learning more about Islam / I am a new convert.  Can you put me in touch with some people?
In the UK and Europe, I suggest you email the New Muslims Project.  I have had personal experience of this organisation for over three years and can vouch for it.

In south-east Asia, you may wish to contact the long-established Muslim Converts Association of Singapore.

In New York there is the Latino American Dawah Organization, which caters specifically for Hispanics.  I do not know of other organisations concerned primarily with (potential) converts, but using the Islamic finders for North America and Australia will give you contact details of mosques and Muslim organisations in your local area.  But I cannot vouch for any of them.

What does Islam say about...?
This site has well over 500 pages.  Therefore it is quite likely that we have some information on the topic you are interested in.  First do an internal search of this site.

If you have a specific question relating to an aspect of Islamic Law not covered here, then I suggest that you search the Fatwa Bank at Islam-Online.Net.  If you still don't find an answer, then you can use their Ask The Scholar facility.  The scholars they use are reputable and well known.  However, I am much less happy about the hard-line tone of some of the advice given about personal situations by the non-scholar "Cyber Counsellors" on this site and would recommend that you avoid that section.

Another good site, OurDialogue.com, contains a question-and-answer indexed archive providing an Islamic perspective on 1780 topics originally raised by readers of the Islam in Perspective page of the Arab News, Jeddah.

Can you advise me on a personal situation?
Sorry, no. We regret that we cannot enter into correspondence of a personal nature.  We just don't have the time, the training or required formal Islamic scholarship to do so.  Again, please refer to the Fatwa Bank or Ask The Scholar facility at Islam-Online.Net.

Can you help me find someone to marry?
Not directly, but here is a link to the Yahoo directory of agencies specialised in helping Muslims to find marriage partners. A popular site with numerous interesting articles is

Can I have the email address of...?
If a writer's email address appears at the foot of an article or on the Islam For Today home page of a given writer, then by all means contact him/her.  Where no email address is given, it means either that the writer has indicated to us that he/she does not wish it to be made public to avoid being swamped or simply that we do not have contact details for the writer.

May I reproduce a photo from your site?
Islam For Today dot com does not own the copyright of ANY photo on this site.  Some have been acquired commercially, others, e.g. hijab and mosque photos, have been sent in by readers from their private collections.  We are therefore not in a position to grant (or refuse) requests.  If you do use a photo from this site, we would nevertheless appreciate it if you mention and link to Islam For Today dot com.

I love your site.  How can I help?
Thank you.  Firstly you can tell your Muslim and non-Muslim friends about the site, maybe pointing them towards any specific page you found particularly useful.  And you can mention Islam For Today dot com in online discussion forums / Yahoo groups etc. and link to us if you have a web site.   It would also be helpful if you could assist the work of this site financially through a one-off or regular monthly donation.

Our email address
If none of the above answer your query, then please do email us and we will try to get back to you as soon as possible.
